2024 MIE Roundtable for Legal Services Executive Directors and Managers (EJC)

The MIE Roundtable allows legal services Executive Directors and Managers to discuss difficult challenges and pressing concerns confidentially, and to benefit from their colleagues who have experience and learning to share. This session moves the community as a whole forward toward better management, resulting in better services to clients.

Jared Smith, JD

Jared Smith is MIE’s Director of Programs, a role in which he works to develop innovative remote and in-person trainings, engaging resources, and effective spaces for collaboration. In this role, he also supports private and legislative fundraising efforts, including by enhancing access to the ABA Standing Committee on Legal Aid and Indigent Defense’s online ABArray Legal Aid Funding Data Report. In the past, Jared has served as the Foundation and Development Manager for the North Carolina Equal Access to Justice Commission and Pro Bono Resource Center, Communications Coordinator for the National Association of Pro Bono Professionals, and adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina School of Law. He is also an active volunteer in the legal profession, having served in leadership roles in the North Carolina Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Foundation, and UNC Law Pro Bono Alumni Board, and he has presented nationally on topics related to leadership development. He is a graduate of Carolina Law and of Davidson College and is a licensed attorney in North Carolina. He is based in Durham, North Carolina.
